“The short-term inflation scare is a whole different animal! If the Fed is forced into action and raises interest rates (or the investment community believes it will do so), the markets will be affected. So where can you invest in inflation protection? Long-term, in stocks, real estate, and businesses; short term in cash and gold. The only pure short-term inflation hedge we have found is high-quality, very short-term Treasury bills.

They are safe and will increase in yield over time if rates rise. Other options like oil and gold have gained popularity in times of fear, but over the long term, tend to be very unreliable.”
