Swing or trend trading allows a trader to enter a market already heading higher or lower. Problem is there is this nonsense about swing trading being a trade that is held for three to five days or something like that.

Am I being dismissive of this definition? Am I scoffing, if not rejecting, the idea of a trade being held simply because a certain number of days have passed? Absolutely.

Swing trading is based upon identifying an uptrend or downtrend and waiting for a correction in the trend to enter. Now if you are still hanging onto some time-based definition of swing trading, let me ask you this: If you enter a swing trade on a 30 minute chart, how long do you hold on the position for?

How about a daily chart? Trend following can only be done in an established trend. Can we agree upon this much? If so, let’s keep moving on.”
